Boondocks and Black People (I'm black)

Ok, today's topic is on the Boondocks and black people. I'm going to try not to make this as long as the others, but when I have an opinion, I just go for it! ;) So anyway, for all who don't know what Boondocks is it is a cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network's adult swim for some time, and it is now being released on DVD. Probably other channels like Spike TV as well. But Boondocks is about two kids who move away from the ghett of Atlanta, Georgia (or the Boondocks as ATL residents know) into an all white area (we Chi-town people know is as Crestwood) Woodcrest (lol). So they think it's going to be boring, but they soon find out that the same problems can happen in the suburbs just as fast as it could've happened in the city of ATL.

About the show-Okay so most people who do know the Boondocks probably recognize the following things: 1) They do not hesitate to degrade any race, ethnic group, or culture, sex, even their own 2) stereotypes are throughout the show 3)they have tones of crude humor against celebrities and even BET 4)They show children using provocative language and sometimes show explicit content. Okay, if you are under the age of 17, you might not be mature enough for this show, though I know some young people who watch it.

Characters-The three main characters are: Huey, Riley, and their grandfather, who I call Mr. Freeman. Huey is the Afro-centric radical child, who believes in doing good for the better of the black man. He also believes the white man is the Devil (ooo, not cool). And he is your average Malcolm X. Riley is a bad gangsta child and he just likes to be where the action is. He's loud, talks too much, and sometimes very ignorant, especially compared to his brother.

Positive Feedback-It's funny. It is one of the most hilarious shows. Many people (mostly black and male crowd, but I do to) find it to be funny. It has a lot of real and honest points to it, and they tackle subjects that many writers would be afraid to tackle. If you read the comic, it's even more interesting...

Negative feedback-Many people (mostly those of different ethnic groups and a different gender) feel this show is too racist, prejudice, and sexist. They feel it is too over-rated and offensive. Many people feel it should be banned. Even BET (the over-sensiive black network) got offended when they made fun of it's 106 Park with 'Gangstalicious' a gay rapper. I feel that it is going a little overboard when people say it should be banned. Yes, there could be some offensive comments, but I don't think it's all the way racist, as they are not just talking about many other races, including the black race. The Black race on Boondocks shows a lot of stereotypes (some being true). This show is no different from any other comedy show. People will ban this show from tv, but they won't ban Family Guy, who consistently uses stereotypes and negative language. I feel that there is some inequality there. People are hypocrites. The same people who say they don't like Boondocks say they love Family Guy.

Black People on Boondocks- Okay, Boondocks shows Black people to use the word "nigger" in almost every sentence, to be loud and often crazy, people who like to fight, and who don't have a clue to what is in the real world (ignorant). But, as stereotypical as it sounds, it is often very true. I'm black and I live in an all black community. And it seems to me that when black people move in together, there is always problems in the community. There is always more crime (not that there isn't in any community, but there's more), the schools lose all credibility, and quality stores begin to close. And the first people that black people want to blame is the "white man." Well, it does appear white people have nicer neighborhoods, and maybe the government was paying for rich white people and not black people (im not sure if that applies to all white people) but now we have a black president. Whats the excuse now? It still is the same. My community has not changed. Why? It's not because of the color of skin our president has, because he's got his act together. It's the people themselves and how they want to live. Black people have stereotypes in the media, but yet, we are influenced by it heavily. So that is a representation: the media. We are starting to look better to the world, but now those "better-looking black people" are starting to look fake and not how real black people act. Black people always want to look cool. Thats a fact. We have to be the loudest, the most flashy, and the most ignorant to hold our status. If this is not true, counter-attack this statement and shoot me an email. Black people spend money they don't have, on things they don't need, to impress people they don't like. And any race does this, but black people will have a nice car, and a dirty run-down house. What sense does that make? Black people don't plan trips, or plan their weddings and families, like other ethnic groups do. Even if there is an accident child, they are usually prepared. Black people let all kinds of surprises happen, and get these low-paying jobs (nothing wrong with it, but if you can get better do better. This is not a third-world country. There are many opportunities, even if it is a recession.) Black people don't work hard enough. They work, but not hard enough. Every time I go to McDonalds or something, the black people behind the counter sound dead, like they have an attitude, and then you hear them giggle and play around with their friends while you're placing an order. You hope they don't get your order wrong (which this place always does around my neighborhood). When you go to a more "white store" or even an "arabic store" they sound chipper, they ask you questions, they make sure everything you want is accessible and clean. They make sure they do their job, even if it is at Arby's. They make a fast-food restaurant seem like the best place to work. The Latin/Hispanic community as well. Their community may look just like ours, but those Latins and Hispanics and Puerto Ricans and Mexicans work their butts off. It will be a small job or a big one, and they will put all effort into it and appreciate their job without an attitude. They take all the odd jobs nobody wants and work them. And they work until they can retire, and have tons of money saved! Thats smart. Black people are so behind. So behind. They would let their property value go down if they could, because black people don't see the need to make programs to clean up the park, beach, or even community! And then to further this point, black people love to fight or argue over an issue involving "racism." Thats the only intelligent conversation black people can hold with white people. They can't relate to anything else.
When it comes to children's shows (check out Frog Princess journal account), black people are the worst. They always say "where's the black princess?" or when American Girl had the American Girl movies and they were all white "where Addy at? They're racist." Well, the reason there isn't is because black people make an issue about how they should be "portrayed" and they especially make it a race issue if a BLACK person isn't the one making the movie! They claim all things involved are stereotypical, and that they're being racist, and that it needs to be REDONE! And they wonder why we don't have anything. Because we don't know how to be civil, how to let go of the past. Anyone has the right to raise hoopla when it comes to race issues, but lets not go overboard and claim every little act a white person does involving a black person is racist. Lets be reasonable (which is like talking to a wall with black people).
The problem is simple-no education and and too many cultural limits. Instead of reading, black people do things that are useless (like hang out at the corner and fight). They also limit themselves to black culture, instead of getting involved with other cultures. America is a melting pot and full of different races and ethnic groups, so you should know about them. If you don't like it, go back to Africa! Enjoy some of the footage from Boondocks!

Sorry, I just had to preach for amoment, because it is so much of an issue in Black America today. They always want to go Jesse Jackson now. Like Kanye said in his song "F**k Jesse Jackson, it ain't bout race now." And he's right.
