12:32 a.m. - Tuesday, Feb. 02, 2010 OMG I'm so liking this new BoA that's coming out of the water! BoA has dropped that fake, Avexnet controlled, Japanese standard way of doing things, and is now doing her own thing! BoA always said that she changed her image when she left Korea the year after her first release Id;Peace B in 2000-2001. In Korea she had her tomboy look with the baggy pants and the male dancers, though she had VERY long angel-like hair....but still. *Check out the Music Videos Id;Peace B Korean version* The next year, BoA began her debut in Japan. But there were stipulations under Avex Trak. Avex told BoA, "The rest of the world is doing bubblegum pop, and they want to see a pop princess." So, they told BoA she would have to change her image. With the release of songs like Amazing Kiss, and Id; Peace B Japanese version, they forced her to show a "girly" side she never had. Unfortunately, she blew up as a big star in Japan. During the super pop craze of Y2K Japan, everyone was interested in her innocence. Then when she sang for Inuyasha, a very successful anime, it was over. The world knew her as the BoA from Every Heart, Listen to My Heart, No. 1 and Valenti. But see, when BoA came to America, she got a culture shock. Her first entry in America was her test to see how American music industry is, the biggest music industry in the world. And what she saw was that if Americans like you, they love you, if they don't they don't. There are no in-betweens. BoA decided to be herself when she came to America. She decided to use her own tomboy image, her street dancing, and club-mix pop music....infested with autotunes. She was told by her company that that's what Americans wanted to hear....unfortunately, that's not what the fans wanted to hear, and apparently, no one else either. The fans don't count, because they all want BoA to go back to her "fake" days during the Every Heart craze. But other people just didn't like that her music was not original. It became obvious that there was no creativity. Americans don't just want to hear a catchy song, but they also want to recognize you as an individual artist with some creativity. And I noticed that when I was watching the 2010 Grammys. We are definitely in a Renaissance of music and movies. Even though auto tunes play, and play on the radio, many of those songs don't make it to the Grammys. The people who won were all different from each other: So with all of these examples, and a bit of education about the world, BoA knew how she was going to further her career, here and in Japan. BoA decided it was time for her to get more creative control of her music, and she sees why people are going to Net labels, instead of Record Labels. BoA realized what she wanted to do, and knew it was time to change. She knew how to approach the music world now. And the result is that song you heard at the top of this page. MUCH MUCH BETTER!!! So just giving you more Asian updates. And guess where I'm going tonight at 7:00? UTADA IN CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOHOO!!!!!!! She is playing at the House of Blues in Chicago, and I heard she not only playing her American album, but she's playing some old Japanese favorites! Yay! ~Over and Out~
