Binge Watching Myazaki's Movies and Preparing for Cardcaptor Sakura's Anime Sequel

It has been nearly two years since I've updated this journal! And I'm so sorry friends. I've been busy with my other blog and life.

However, I have not given up on my anime. In fact, I'm cleaning up and making this diary particularly dedicated to anime.

I've been watching anime as well.

I know I promised a long time ago that I would make a review for "the Wind Arises". My plans have been changing and changing.

So, I'm not going to make promises like that again.

I watch anime when I feel the mood to watch it, when I feel "into" a particular story.

Lately, I've been returning to Myazaki's old movies. But I still haven't watched "The Wind Arises".

The two movies I've been watching have been the more recent "The Secret World of Arietty" and the old 1980s classic "Castle in the Sky".

Both movies gave me something different from the popular Myazaki movies "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Moving Castle." They didn't have the spirit or magic intertwined in them, but they still took me into another world and introduced me to lovable and interesting characters.

I never can complain after seeing his movies.

"Castle in the Sky", of the two, was probably one of Myazaki's most action-packed movies. It also had a pretty twisted plot. And it's pretty hard to shock me, considering the amount of anime I've watched.

"The Secret World of Arietty" was sadder. It was a very touching film overall. I don't feel everyone can appreciate this movie. It focuses on a simpler, less complex angle. It's based off of the book "The Borrowers". I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I love simple and touching story-telling. I don't have to have a whole lot of action in a movie to keep me interested.

There still was a lot of symbolism in the movie, as is common in Myazaki's movies. And the characters were still interesting.

I recommend these movies for those who love fantasy, fables, fiction, and a good bedtime story. Myazaki's movies always help me go to bed and give me good dreams.

I really plan on flowing through the list of his movies and binge watching all of them. I watched "The Cat Returns", "Whispers of the Heart", "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Kiki's Delivery Service" as well. I've just been obsessed, really.

Aside from Myazaki's movies, I've been reading the Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc manga. Have you heard? Cardcaptor Sakura is returning in an anime sequel January 2018! All of the cast is returning along with the old director. So far, so good. I can't wait to see the return of my favorite characters. You can have a look at my review of the original anime in my older entries.

It might be good for me to rewatch the old anime, just to brush up on the story...
