9:43 p.m. - Wednesday, Feb. 01, 2012 Story: It's literally a movie about movies. The story focuses on a famous female actress named Chiyoko. Two men suddenly come to visit her, one of them being a film director named Genya Tachibana, who remembered her in his youth before she suddenly disappeared from the filming world. He seeks to draw out why, releasing a series of events in her past in the form of many stories, and movies that reflected her life. Throughout this period, the woman fell in love with a rebel that was against fascist Japan at the time in 1930s. They never showed his face, or revealed his name, but she falls in love with him. He owned a particular key. Eventually, the man disappears, leaving his key left in the snow. The then picks up the key, joins an film industry, so that she can search for this lost love. Characters-Really interesting, the characters serve in the same roles many times. There is particularly Eiko, who's always stuck playing Chiyoko's opponent. The characters are well-developed. The main heroine of the story is one of the most interesting of all. Music-Think Paranoia Agent...a bit erotic and new age in sound. Art and design-it really has a slice of life feel to it. The animation isn't in the ridiculous shonen and shojo style. Influences-Satoshi Kon...enough said. You probably know his works from my previews anime reviews on Paranoia Agent and Perfect Blue...complete mind fart kind of guy. Overall, it gets a 10/10
